Search the trademark register
Search every trademark on the Indian register by name, logo, owner, application number or goods. Filter by class and status, shortlist the risky marks and export a clearance report.
TM Search (in the sidebar under Registry) searches every trademark on the Indian register. Use it to:
- check whether a new brand name is free before you file it (a trademark clearance search);
- see who else uses a word in your classes;
- look up a client's or a competitor's marks.
Ways to search
Pick how you want to search from the list next to the search box:
| Search by | What it finds | Try |
|---|---|---|
| Word mark | marks that look or sound like your word, closest first: the same name, spellings a letter or two off, the words joined or split, sound-alikes | sunbloom |
| Logo | marks whose logo looks like an image you upload | an image file |
| Application no. | that one application | 7637184 |
| Proprietor | marks owned by a person or company | hindustan unilever |
| Proprietor address | marks by the owner's address | andheri mumbai |
| Class details | marks whose goods or services mention your words | coffee |
| Attorney | marks filed by an attorney (on plans that include it) | an attorney's name |
Your recent searches show as chips, such as "Word: sunbloom", so you can run them again with one click.
Narrow the results
Filter by Class, Status, State and Alert. Each filter shows how many results fall under each option. You can pick more than one.
For a clearance search, start with the classes you plan to file in, then look at status: a mark that is registered or still pending is a bigger risk than one that was abandoned or refused.
Marks filed in several classes (class 99)
The Registry records a mark filed in more than one class as class 99. TM Manager reads the real classes from its goods and services and shows them alongside, for example 99 · 24, 25, 35.
To see these marks in a class search, include 99 in your class filter.
Build a shortlist with search files
For a clearance job, open a search file. Give it the proposed mark and, if you like, the client, the classes and the goods. While it's open:
- select ☆ on any result to add it to the file. This works across all the searches you run, and added rows are highlighted;
- the header shows the file and how many marks are in it. Open it to see your shortlist: each mark with a risk level (High, Medium or Low) and a note, both saved as you type, plus the searches you ran;
- download a report from the shortlist: a PDF for your client (highest risk first, with each mark's validity and goods) or an Excel sheet with every detail.
You can edit a file's details or delete it from the shortlist.
Export results
Export all results or only the rows you select, as Excel or PDF.
Credits
Each search uses 1 credit. Running the same search again within an hour is free. Exports use 1 credit per 100 rows. See how many credits you've used this month under your account menu → Usage Stats.
